How to make a read only presentation in PowerPoint

PowerPoint in Office 2010 and Office 2013 can be marked as final and let readers know the presentation is final and make it read-only by using the PowerPoint Info menu features. This would provide users with warning message when editing and making changes to the PPT slides.

Listed below are the steps to mark a presentation as final in PowerPoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2013.

Click on File menu –> Navigate to menu
Click on the Protect Presentation and select Mark as Final from list of menus.

The following dialog box would be displayed. Click Ok to continue.

The following warning message would also be displayed. Click ok to complete the operation.

This would make the PowerPoint Presentation as a read-only.

Prevent users from making changes to Presentation

If you do not want users to make any changes to PowerPoint presentation then you can save the PowerPoint as PowerPoint Show (*.ppsx). Listed below are the steps to save the presentation as PowerPoint Show in PowerPoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2013

Click File menu and select Save As option from the menu list.

Now double click on the Computer to launch Save As dialog box.

Enter a name for the presentation and select PowerPoint Show in Save as type dropdown. Then click the Save button to the convert the file in to PowerPoint Show file format. Now users can run this file as PowerPoint presentation and will not be able to make any changes to it.

This does not make the file “Read Only” as it once did. When the recipient opens the file, a bar comes up on the top that says “An author has marked this presentation as final to discourage editing”. And then there is an EDIT ANYWAY button. Which overrides the “Mark as Final”.
Is there a way to actually make a file Read Only in Office 2010?

I agree with Sharone anyone can still edit a presentation you have made; this is wrong one spends hours at times making a presentation and someone steal it

a malicious user can still override this one, but it’s trickier than just clicking “edit anyway”
I really wish there was a secure way to do this.

Save your presentation as a .pps file; a powerpoint show. This will save your animation, but viewers will not be able to edit it.

Unfortunately, pps will not solve this problem, since any user can open Power point, then select Open file, and choose pps… it will open as simple ppt.

“Mark as Final” is only meant to discourage editing, it can still be edited.
Changing the properties to read-only will only prompt the viewer to save it to another file name if he intends to edit it.
You can do one thing, try making a presentation which is trigger-free which loops continuously and save it as windows media video.
This option will convert your presentation into a video, but it will not be as good as ppsx.

Save to another power point file
in menu choose File->Save As then rename the file before you save beside save button choose Tools->General Options then under file sharing setting for this document enter password for modify. this will prevent other person to edit your document.
