How to quickly block sender in Outlook

If you are receiving junk or spam emails in your Outlook email client and you do want to receive emails from these senders then you can use Junk email settings in Outlook to block these senders. To quickly block a sender in Outlook 2016, 2013 & 2010, select by right clicking the email and pick Block Sender option from the menu list.

This would display the following confirmation message and the message will be moved to the Junk email folder.

Instead of selecting Junk email options from the context menu, you can also try the Junk menu option which is available as part of the Home Menu.

Please tell me how to block a persistant group of junk mail senders. I have tried by “blocking sender” over 400 times without success. I get 10 t0 25 emaills daily promoting “Viagra” and they keep changing the senders name and subject but nearly always inckude the words “sex”or “Viagra”or “Vigr” in the subject. Can we block the sender by somehow blocking those words?
    please advise. Many thanks

I am not sure whether you can block senders based on the subject but you create rules to move these emails to Junk Email folder. Hope the below link answers your query

I have bolcked senders repeatedly and daily by sender and domain but I still receive emails and none go to the junk mail folder. My junk mail options filter is on high. What do I have to do to get this to work?

  8. Is there a way to block them from ever coming through, not even to your junk mail?

  9. Is it possible to block an email completely, without sending it to your Junkmail as then you haven’t blocked it but simply redirected it, and notify the sender at the same time that his emails have been blocked?

  10. Maybe instead of redirecting it to your Junkmail, you can redirect it back to the sender??!

  11. I have the same question that Tracy & Carolyn have. I’ve been getting emails from Overstock Auctions & i’d like to make it to where they can’t send me email at all.

  14. I found a good way to solve this. You can create a button with a keyboard shortcut that does it.

To do this, right click the toolbar, click Customise quick access toolbar. Chose commands – All commands. Then find the Block Sender icon and click Add. Then OK.

The block sender icon is now on the Quick access toolbar, and will be actioned as ALT- with some digit: Mine was 7 as it’s the 7th item.

That allows you to junk a whole sequence of items just by repeatedly clicking Alt-.

    1. First, I think you meant: To do this, right click the SHORTCUT toolbar. I figured that one out.

Second, When you say ACTIONED, you must mean opens the block sender menu in the shortcut bar because that’s all that it does. It does not process the command Block Sender. Doing that would be a REAL shortcut.
