How to recover deleted folders in Outlook 2010

September 29, 2011 By Ravi Shankar 34 Comments

In this tutorial we will see how to recover a deleted folder in Outlook 2010. Let us take the following example to show recovery of deleted folders. Let us say you have deleted a folder named “resources” under Inbox by right clicking on the folder and select Delete Folder from the menu list.

Now to recover the deleted folder, navigate to Deleted Items folder under your email account and expand it. This would display the deleted folder “resources”along with the outlook items.

You can drag and drop the folder to your inbox and restore to place where it was before.

From the right click context menu, if you have selected Delete All menu option then it deletes only the outlook items inside the folder and leaves out the folder. To recover the deleted outlook items, navigate to Deleted Items folder and restore the individual items.

Ok, but how do you recover a “hard” deleted folder, as if you empty the Deleted Items folder instead of recovering or deleted by doing a Shift+Delete? I know the items still remain in the Recover Deleted Item window, but not the folder. If I delete 200 emails from various originating folders plus a folder containing 50 emails and empty the Deleted Items, they will all show up under the one “folder” window that opens when you click on Recover Deleted Items. Any way to sort by original location or to view the folder itself?

    Thanks,

I “removed” the Archive File from my favourite folders but it is now “gone” together with all messages – not in my Deleted items folder and even in my recycle bin. How to recover please?

So, I removed the RSS Feeds folder, and I cleared my “Deleted Items” folder.
Is there any way I can get my RSS Feeds folder back?

    Thanks in advance

You can recover your email with the help of third party software such as Stellar Phoenix Deleted email recovery. The software can easily recover your all email item from your PST file. You can try first demo version and preview recover deleted email.

    Ravi.
Thank you so much for your simple instructions to find my deleted folder. I contacted my IT first level and the guy could only follow a script that was no help. So, he elevated it to second level; but I didn’t stop looking and as soon as I clicked on your help link, it was resolved in about two minutes. It wasn’t rocket science, it was about getting easy simple instructions as yours are. Thanks again! Della

I had inadvertently copied a folder into my “favorites” location at the top of the column. I should have drug it back below, but I deleted it. Now it is not in the deleted file nor in the Folder/ Recover deleted files. How can I get it back.

Thank you very much, I submitted a ticket to my IT department. But was able to figure it out before they got to me. Thank you a million. Saved me a lot of time.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for this saved my life when I deleted my “Quick Reference” folder you know the one that has all the links, logins and short cuts that I can’t live with out. So simple but MS help search returned nothing on this. Your answer here was right on and popped up in a google search. Major Kudos… tell MS they need you!
