Disable permanently delete items warning message in Outlook

Outlook displays a warning message when deleting outlook emails. It displays a dialog box with message “Are you sure that you want permanently delete the selected items” as shown below

This is very useful warning option for the users before deleting the mail items permanently. But If you do not want to see the permanently deleted warning message then turn off or disable this warning message.

Disable warning message in Outlook 2016, Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2010

Click on the File menu –> Options and navigate to Advanced tab.

Scroll down to Other section and clear the checkbox with label as Prompt for confirmation before permanently deleting items. Click OK to save the changes.

 

Turn off permanently delete warning message in Outlook 2007

This warning message can be disabled in Outlook 2007 by using Tools –> Options.

Go to Tools –> Options and select Other tab.

Click on the Advanced Options button. The following Advanced Options window would be displayed.

Uncheck the “Warn before permanently deleting items” to disable the warning message.

How to disable auto fill feature in Excel

Auto fill in excel is quite handy feature, using this you can fill series of cells based on the entries of other excel cells. But if you want to turn off or disable auto fill feature then you can use Excel options for doing this. Listed below are the steps to turn off auto fill in Excel 2013, Excel 2010 and Excel 2007

Excel 2016, 2013 and 2010

Click on the File menu –> Options link and navigate to Advanced tab on the left hand side.

Under Editing options, un tick the check box with label as Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop. This will turn off the auto fill feature in Excel 2010.

Excel 2007

In Excel 2007, this feature can be turned on or off using the Excel Advanced Options.

Click on the Office button –> Excel Options

By checking or un checking “Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop”, you can turn on or off the Auto fill feature in Excel 2007.

Turn off automatically created border lines in Word

Word 2016, 2013 and 2010 have a feature that allows users to automatically create border lines by just typing the character three times. For example if you type dash (-) three times and press enter key in a document, Word will automatically draw a border line with dash character. This is useful when your want to quickly draw border lines in your document.

Word application allows also users to turn off this feature using the Proofing options. Click the File menu then Options link. In Word Options window, click AutoCorrect options button under Proofing tab.

Then in the AutoCorrect window, navigate to Apply as you type section under AutoFormat As You Type tab. Now un mark the check box with label as Border lines. Click Ok button to confirm and save the changes.

Quickly turn off border line feature

You can quickly turn off border line feature using the AutoCorrect Context menu Options. Type the character 3 times and press enter to draw the border line. Now select “Stop Automatically Creating Border lines” option from the drop down list.

If you want to temporarily stop creating border line just for one or two occurrences then you press Ctrl + Z to undo the changes.

Turn off display of hyperlinks in Outlook 2013 & Outlook 2010 messages

Outlook 2013 & Outlook 2010 by default displays any Internet address as hyperlinks. This is pretty useful feature and by clicking the hyperlink would quickly launch the website. But if you want to disable this feature while reading as well as composing mail, then you turn off this feature using Editor Options.

Click the File menu –> Options link then navigate to Mail Options.

Click the Editor Options button available under the Compose messages section. In the Editor Options window, click the AutoCorrect Options button available under the Proofing section.

In the AutoCorrect Window, navigate to Replace section under AutoFormat tab and un tick the check box with label as Internet and network paths with hyperlinks.

How to turn off the reading pane in Outlook 2013 & Outlook 2010

Outlook 2013 & Outlook 2010 have reading pane which displays the email details when we browse through the messages. This reading pane can be positioned either to the right or bottom of the email list.

A Sample message displayed in Reading Pane is shown below

If you want to turn off the reading pane using the Options available as part of View menu. Navigate to View menu then to the Layout section.

In the Layout section, click the down arrow available below the Reading Pane and select Off from the list of available menus.

By this way you can hide the reading pane in Outlook 2010.

How to turn off display of screen tips in PowerPoint 2013 & 2010

PowerPoint 2013 and 2010 displays screen tips along with feature description when we hover the mouse over the menu items. By default screen tip feature is enabled in PowerPoint but if you do not want this extra information to be displayed then you can turn off using PowerPoint options.

Click File menu and then Options link

In PowerPoint Options under General tab, navigate to User Interface options.

Set the value for ScreenTip style dropdown to Don’t show ScreenTips and click OK to confirm and save the changes. This would disable the display of screen tips for all menu items in PowerPoint.

Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2007 – Clear email addresses in auto complete list

Microsoft Outlook suggest names while typing in To or Cc or Bcc fields. This is useful when you want to quite include already used email address. But there would be scenarios where you would like to disable this feature. Outlook provides option to turn on/off suggestion and also clear Auto-Complete list (available only in Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2010). Listed below are the steps turn off suggesting names in Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2007

Click File menu then Options followed by Mail tab.

In the Mail Options screen, navigate to Send messages section and un mark the check box with caption as “Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, Cc and Bcc lines”. If you want to just clear the listed names then click Empty Auto-Complete List option.

Outlook 2007

In order disable this feature in Outlook 2007, navigate to Tools menu and select Options from the menu list. This would display the Options dialog box

This would display the following Advanced E-mail Options dialog box. And by un checking Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields, complete names feature would be displayed.

  • Tap the settings icon on the iPad home screen.
  • In the settings screen, navigate Sound settings.
