July 18, 2012 By Ravi Shankar Leave a Comment

Word 2013 by default displays the start screen during the launch. But if you find this feature not useful and want to always open blank document when launching the application then you can use the settings available part Word 2013 options.

Word 2013 template

Step 1: Launch Word 2013 and click the File menu.

Step 2: From the left hand sidebar, select Options from the list.

Step 4: Unmark the check box with label as Show the Start screen when this application starts. Then click OK button to confirm and save the changes.

What a godsend. I’ve been searching for a way to do this. Annoyed the heck out of me that Word always opened to these ridiculous templates I wouldn’t use in a million years. Does Microsoft not realize that the vast majority of customers use Word for — duh — word processing? Thank you.

Whenever I open a blank document, a table appears. When I start typing and hit enter another table (box) appears. Does anyone know how to get rid of the table?

May be word template has this box included. Try editing your normal template.

Awesome, thank you! Why can’t Microsoft quit adding all this junk and make it “add on” to those that want it instead of making people have to make so many adjustments just to use the program as they were used to.

Ravi after spending at least a hour with a Microsoft techy who said there was no way to do your fix I can not tell you how delighted I am with your two minute fix. Thanks a million, I’m sorry we can’t lift a glass of King Fisher, you’ve made a silk purse out of a pigs ear!
