How to find word count in Google Docs Document

Word Count

Word count in a Google Docs document can be found using the menu option available as part of Tools menu. The Word Count window provides count of pages, Words, Characters (no spaces), Characters (with spaces).

If you want find the Word Count in document, click on the Tools menu and then select Word count from the list of available menus.

This would display the Word Count window with the following information.

You can also find count of words for the given selection and the result will be displayed under the Selection column.

Create Shortcut for Google Chrome Extension

In this tutorial we will cover the steps required for creating a shortcut for a Google Chrome Extension. If you like a chrome extension and you intend to use it quite often then you can create shortcuts to access the extension.

Open a new tab page in Google Chrome and right click on the extension for which you want to create a shortcut say for extension like Google Docs. This would display the following list of menus.

Now select the Create shortcut option from the menu list.

In the Create application shortcuts window, select the places where you want to create shortcuts like Desktop, Start menu and Quick launch bar and click on the Create button. And now you could see the shortcuts getting created in the selected places.

Find repeated words in Word 2010

Repeated Word

Microsoft Word 2010 has a feature that checks for the occurrence of repeated words in a word document. For example if you have typed a word twice continuously then the second word will be highlighted for as shown below.

Also Word provides the user with option for deleting the repeated word. The find repeated word feature is by default enabled and you can turn off this check using the Word Proofing options.

Turn off repeated word check

Click the file menu then the options link. In the Word Options screen, click the Proofing option and then navigate to When correcting in Microsoft Programs section.

Un tick the checkbox with label as Flag repeated words to disable the repeated word check in Word 2010. Click on the OK button available at the bottom of the page to confirm and save the changes.

Add Title, Tag and Category to PowerPoint Presentations

This tutorial explains how to add title, tag and category information to a PowerPoint Presentation file. Adding Title, Tag and Category information will keep you more organized and also help us during searches in a shared environment. To add these information to your PowerPoint Presentation file, click the File menu then Info menu option.

In the Info screen navigate to the section on the right hand side.

You can start providing the required details for your presentation file by editing the field adjacent to Title, Tags and Categories respectively. Also using the Related People section you can addition authors information as shown below. You can add the people from either your contacts or using the your address book.

After adding the required information, click the File –> Save options to save the entered details.

Online Payment of Chennai Metro Water Tax

Chennai Metro Water Tax can be paid online through ChennaiMetroWater website. Here you find step by step instruction of online payment of Water tax. Same like Chennai Property Tax website this does not require any username and password to access the Online Payment section of the website. All you need is your mobile no (if already registered) or area, division, bill no and sub code details of you property.

Open ChennaiMetroWater website and click the Water Tax & Charges Payment section available under Online Services in the Sidebar.

In Water Tax and Charge Details, click the Water Tax & Charges Online Payment link. This would display the following screen where you either enter the registered mobile number or your property details and click the Pay button.

This would show your water tax details that has to be paid for the current year.

Mark the required check box and also enter your email id and click the Pay Now button. You would then see the following Online Payment Details screen. Click Pay Now button to continue with Payment. As of now the Chennai metro water accepts only Credit/Debit card payment and not any online net banking services.

How to archive Email messages in iPad 2

Email accounts configured in iPad 2 allows user to archive the email messages. you can turn on the archive feature using iPad Mail settings. The archive email message option will be available when you touch and swipe on the email message or if you tap the trash icon.

The above screenshots shows that archive message feature is disabled for the configured email account. To enable archiving for the email account, from iPad home screen tap the settings icon. In the Settings screen, navigate to Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings and then select email account to turn on archiving of email messages.

In the select mail account, navigate to Archive Messages section.

Tap and swipe Archive Messages to turn on the feature as shown below.

Now when you swipe on any email message the Archive option will be shown as shown below.

How to disable automatic java update check in Windows 7

Windows 7 displays Java Update notification when the “check for automatic updates” is enabled for Java. The Java Update available notification will be displayed in Windows 7 taskbar as shown below.

Listed below are the steps to disable the check for automatic java update using Java Control Panel

From Windows 7 Start menu navigate to Control Panel -> Programs

In The Programs screen, select Java from the available list

In the Java Control Panel navigate to update tab. Un mark the check box with label as Check for Updates Automatically. And click OK button to confirm and save the changes. This would disable the display of Java Updates Available notification in Windows 7 Taskbar.

How to clear browsing history in iPad 2 safari

iPad 2 provides a good browsing experience to the user through the pre-installed Safari browser. It also allows users to clear the browsing history, cache and cookies. This can be done using the Safari settings option in the iPad.

To clear the browsing history in iPad

  • Tap settings icon on your iPad home screen.
  • In the settings screen, navigate to General settings and then to Tao Safari menu option.

  • In the Safari settings, navigate down to see the list of menu options available for clearing the browsing history, cookies and cache.

When you tap the clear history or any of these menu options you will be prompted with the following message depending upon the selected option.

Tap the Clear button to continue with the operation.
